Grass: A Nation’s Battle for Life is a documentary recording of the Bakhtiari people over the desert and the mountain range of Zard Kuh located in today’s Iran. The expedition in search for grazing land, which brought numerous deaths as a result, was filmed from close distance as well as from mountain tops and the filmmakers experienced the hardships of the local peoples’ existence firsthand. The film includes the famous sequence of crossing the rapids of the Karun River. |

The screening heralds the 15th Silent Film Festival in Krakow, which will be held on 4-7 December 2014.
