Short Waves On Tour is a travelling Polish short film competition, which will arrive once again at Kino Pod Baranami on June 7th. The programme includes fiction and documentary films, as well as animations straight from the Short Waves Festival in Poznań.
Creators of the competing films present intriguing stories with strong protagonists, who seem to have both feet on the ground, until fate makes them reevaluate their own beliefs. All of them have an initiation or a life changing decision ahead of them. Volte by Monika Kotecka and Karolina Poryzała is a coming-of-age story. The protagonist of Damian Kocur’s Nothing New Under the Sun has to confront his ideas about love with reality and in Kordian Kądziela’s Dregs the viewers will see the main character’s awkward attempt at mature life. Balbina Bruszewska will present the animated Wizard of U.S. - a satirical approach to the legendary kids’ novel Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The programme also includes family drama Heimat - the newest film by Emi Buchwald, creator of the award winning Education.
Films presented at Short Waves On Tour show life in all its colors and a wide range of emotions, combining disappointment of failure with joy coming from small success. What comes first though, is the curiosity and excitement for life, which motivates people to take up new challenges.
The viewers gathered at film screenings across Poland will vote for the best film, and its director will receive the Audience Prize of 10 000 PLN on June 16, 2018 in Poznań.
All voters will have a chance for a special prize: a double invitation for a weekend in Poznań (June 15-17), as well as the closing ceremony of Short Waves On Tour.
To take part in the lottery simply vote for your favourite film and write your e-mail address on the voting card. The winner will receive a message on June 10 the latest.
All films will be presented with English subtitles.
