The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 was the most destructive river flood in the history of the United States. More than 200,000 African Americans were displaced from their homes along the Lower Mississippi River and had to live for lengthy periods in relief camps. As a result of this disruption, many joined the Great Migration from the South to northern and Midwestern industrial cities, like Chicago. Apart from the obvious social and economical consequenceS, this catastrophe also had its' part in the the history of blues and jazz music.

In the spring of 2011, when the artists were working on the music to this film, Missisipi River rose up once again almost reaching the level from 1927, reminding everyone about the inredible force of nature.
