13th Silent Film Festival

13. SILENT FILM FESTIVAL: Lucky 13.

December, 6 - 9 2012

This year's Festival comes under the name of "Lucky 13." and we hope this number will bring us all luck and great fun. We will present feature films and documentaries, short stories and stop-motion animations - films from all over the world: Poland, Germany, United Kingdom, Ukraine and France. The programme consists also of two screenings of silent films with original music recorded: Metropolis, reconstructed and restored and Pan Tadeusz, reconstructed and re-premiered in 2012.

During thirteen screenings we will present music interpretations of silent films prepared and shown by musicians from Poland and abroad. As every year, we have invited accomplished instrumentalists of different kinds of music, from jazz, electronic music and avant-garde to underground indie-rock groups and piano musicians.

This year we also present special events for the youngest audience - Kids’ Screening: Baranki in Silent Cinema. On Saturday children will take part in workshops and presentations about the beginnings of cinema. On Sunday they will also attend a screening of silent film with live music.

A mapping based on silent films will be presented on the interior facade of Pod Baranami Palace - Saturday & Sunday (December, 8 & 9), between SFF screenings. Prepared by Julie Land, Natalia Magdzik, Dorota Tylka and Ayane Yamanaka.
