| Winner of the Splat!FilmFest Best Screenplay award, the new project by French director Yann Gonzalez transports us back to Paris in the late 1970s. Inspired by the true story of a third-rate gay porn movie producer, the film centres around Anne (Vanessa Paradis). After her lover Loïs—who’s also her film editor—leaves her, Anne is on the verge of a breakdown. In an attempt to get Loïs back, she sets out to make her most ambitious project to date. The plot thickens when one of her actors is brutally murdered. With the police showing little interest in the case, Anne is forced to take matters in her own hands. The further her investigation takes her, the more she’s aware of the implications it will have for her own life. The film’s powerful sense of intrigue is matched by its form: Gonzalez incorporates a range of vivid, extravagant colours and a hypnotic soundtrack by M83. An intense, uncompromising cinematic experience, with a strong ‘70s vibe in its directorial style.
